IV. Registration conditions
1. Basic requirements
a. Non-China citizens with valid foreign passports, who are in good health, have good moral character and have no criminal record.
b. Abiding by the laws and regulations of China and the university rules and regulations, respecting the customs and habits of the Chinese people.
c. Having physical health status conforming to the “Health Examination Standard for Overseas Students in China” promulgated by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China (PRC).
d. Age range:
Undergraduate: 18-35 years old; preppies majoring in Chinese: 18-35 years old; non-academic short-term students: 18-55 years old.
e. Graduated from high school or equivalent and have relevant certificates.
2. Admission requirements
Academic students: providing HSK Level 4 certificate during admission, and participate in the entrance examination organized by the college where the major is declared;
Preppies:
a. After admission, the students first study Chinese as a preparatory course. After passing the HSK Level 4 Exam and passing the entrance examination for the major they apply for, they may proceed to undergraduate studies;
b. Students who have the conditions to takes the coruses of undergraduate major, but voluntarily apply for preparatory studies of Chinese courses.
V. Registration method and materials
1. Application methods
Online application:
Applicants log in “Honghe University Education Open Management Systerm” (http://jydwkf.uoh.edu.cn/openRegister/)to register, After filling in the application information online and uploading the relevant application materials, submit the application (Google Browser recommended). The specific procedures can be downloaded from the homepage of the website “INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICATION GUIDE”. Fill in the application in Chinese or English in accordance with the system requirements, the uploaded materials must be clear, true and valid. Applicants are advised to use professional equipment to scan relevant documents. The applicant shall bear the consequences of uploading materials that are unclear or unidentifiable.
★ Note: During the online application, please ensure that the name, passport number, and date of birth you provide match the information on your passport. Additionally, your email address and the mailing address for receiving the “Admission Letter” must be accurate. Otherwise, you will not receive the electronic version of the “Visa Application for Study in China Form” (JW202 Form) and the “Admission Letter.”
2. Application materials
a. Application Form for International Students of Honghe University (please fill in Chinese or English, and submit Excel document and signed scanned copy);
b. Personal information page of the passport (the passport is valid for more than one year), scanned copies of the last used visa page and entry and exit stamp page
c. Electronic bareheaded photo (color 2-inch bareheaded photo with no border on white background. The head accounts for 2/3 of the photo size. The photo size is not less than 320*240 pixels. The aspect ratio is 4:3, and the file size is 100-200 KB, in JPG format);
d. High school graduation certificate, or the graduation proofs issued by the school for students having not yet obtained the graduation certificate (notarized, with Chinese or English translation);
e. Academic record of high school and Transcript of high school graduation examination (notarized, with Chinese or English translation);
f. HSK Level 4 report (For undergraduate applications)
g. “No Criminal Record Certificate” issued within the last 6 months (notarized, with Chinese or English translation);
h. Proof of family economic guarantee (notarized, with Chinese or English translation).
i. “Foreigner Physical Examination Form” (see Appendix 2) and scanned copy of the blood test report. (valid within the past 6 months,
VI. Charging standards
1. Tuition: RMB 8400/academic year
2. Accommodation: RMB 800/academic year
3. Fees for all kinds of relevant formalities: insurance premium RMB 435/year, physical examination fee RMB 273/time, and residence permission fee RMB 400/year (Notes: When the applicant reports to the school, they shall pay the processing fee to the relevant institutions according to the current charging standards of the relevant departments. The specific amount shall be subject to the actual charges collected by the relevant departments.)
VII. Scholarship
1. School-level scholarship of Honghe University
A. Type of scholarships
a. Freshmen scholarship
Undergraduate and preppies are admitted as students receiving half scholarship (free of half tuition).
Qualification of enrollment:
Undergraduate: foreign students with excellent academic performance in high school (or equivalent), with Certificate of HSK Level 4 and no criminal record, can directly enter professional study after the entrance examination.
Preppies:
+Foreign students with excellent grades in high school (or equivalent), no criminal record, excellent academic performance, but whose language ability has not yet reached the required major standard。
+Students who are qualified for the study of undergraduate major, but voluntarily apply to study the course of preparatory Chinese.
Scholarship years:
First-year-undergraduate students and Preppies can apply for the “Freshmen Scholarship” which provides maximum one year’s financial support for the approved applicants. Students with Freshmen Scholarship will automatically change to self-funded students when the Scholarship expires.
Preppies who fail to reach the required major standard in Chinese for more than one year will automatically change to self-funded students, and they can continue to study preparatory Chinese after paying the tuition fee in accordance with the school’s current tuition standard for preparatory Chinese course (RMB 8400/year/student) until their Chinese level reaches the required major standard.
b. Annual scholarship
After completing the first year of study, undergraduate students will change to self-funded students since the second year. They can apply for school-level “Annual Scholarship” according to their own actual situation. The application for “Annual Scholarship” will be reviewed based on the candidate’s academic records, GPA, comprehensive evaluation and daily performance etc. The candidate list will be recommended and publicized by the colleges; the university will conduct an examination of the list and give approval to qualified candidates of different grades of the scholarship.
Scholarship years:
Scholarship reviews are conducted once a school year. The students who enter the undergraduate study as the university’s preppies can apply for the scholarship for four times, and other undergraduate students can apply for the scholarship for three times at most. Students who continue to study over four years are not qualified in applying the scholarship.
2. Other scholarships
Honghe University provides the application for other kinds of scholarship, including “Yunnan Provincial Government Scholarship for Overseas Students”, “Scholarship for International Chinese Teachers” and social donation scholarships from other channels (the specific scope, objects and forms of funding will be determined according to the specific situation of the year after students enter school).
VIII. Online Application System Opening Period
From Jun. 9, 2025 to Jul. 4, 2025.
(This period includes time for document supplementation and modifications. Applications with incomplete/non-compliant materials after the deadline will not undergo eligibility review.)
IX. Admission and notification
1. Honghe University conducts eligibility reviews based on the application materials submitted by the applicants (if an interview is required, further notice will be given) and offers enrollment on a merit-based basis. Applicants can check the admission result in the “Honghe University Education Open Management System”(http://jydwkf.uoh.edu.cn/openRegister/)at the Early August. The final admission result is subject to the receipt of the “admission notice”).
2. Honghe University will send the “admission notice” and related materials to the admitted students before Sept. 2025.
3. Students who have been admitted should not change their major and duration of study in principle.
X. Registration for admission
1. The time and requirements for enrollment registration should be subject to the admission notice and instructions. Freshmen should provide the original of all the above application materials during registration. Those who can’t provide the real original will be disqualified.
2. Those who can’t register on time for special reasons must apply to the school in advance in writing, and their registration may be postponed after obtaining the approval; those who fail to register on time without approval will be disqualified.
